How is PediaSwim different?
Did you know that Florida leads with having the most residential swimming pools out of all the states? Estimating 1,590,000 pools which is about 14 people per pool. This does not include other bodies of water or the ocean that residents are surrounded by. As you can imagine, water is part of everyones life in Florida. This is why the Florida Department of Health makes it mandatory that swim instructors MUST be certified under their approved list of swim programs. PediaSwim is a comprehensive swim program for both instructors and students and the state of Florida has recognized this as well. This is the leading reason for why I chose to do my training with such a highly recommended and respected facility in Florida. It offers the gentlest, most effective lessons available teaching infants and toddlers to swim and float independently for fun but most importantly, for safety. It does not matter the PediaSwim instructor, you will get the same positive goals and results with us!
Joy McGinty:
Founder of PediaSwim and Southwest Aquatics
Joy has been teaching infants and toddlers survival skills and love for the water since 1992. She owns and operates Southwest Aquatics which is a world class facility and organization in Winter Garden, FL. With one teaching pool and two competitive swim pools, PediaSwim and Southwest Aquatics work year round to allow children of all ages along with trainers to learn and share the joy of swimming.
WHAT IS
SWIM-FLOAT-SWIM?

Swim-Float-Swim is a technique that teaches children as young as six months old to float and breathe for an extended period of time, with intermittent periods of swimming toward the shore or pool edge. The child uses kicking while on their stomach to swim toward safety, and then they roll onto their back when tired and float face-up or to kick in that position toward the side of the pool or the shore.
SURVIVAL SWIM LEADS TO RECREATIONAL SWIMMING.

The basic skills of floating, kicking, and paddling give children the confidence and comfort around the water that can lead to a lifetime of recreational enjoyment. Once they reach an age where they can participate in recreational/group swim lessons, they’ll become even stronger, safer swimmers much faster and with less fear.
